I am more of a person who likes to write poems & not an avid blogger but wouldn't let this opportunity go where I get a chance to say something about My Law School. So, here I am blogging about My Law School. Since Childhood I was having a dream to study law at a reputed institution & it feels good when Childhood Dreams come true but how I landed up at KIIT Law School(KLS) is a long story. 28th May,2012, I still remember the dates as if it happened yesterday as a matter of fact any law student would who gave CLAT because it was the Day of Results. Yes, the results were out & my rank wouldn't have let me get a seat at the NLUs. I was shattered not because of the results but because now I won't able to go out of Odisha. As a resident of Bhubaneswar its not that I don't like this place its just that I always wanted to try out living & studying in another State.:P: But life had something else planned for me. This was the moment I started searching for alternatives. As the Hindi Proverb says "Ghar Ki Murgi, Dal Barabar", KIIT Law School which was looking like another mediocre institution to me before some time suddenly turned a preferable option. After talking with a few seniors, teachers & viewing the placement record of KIIT Law School, without no delay I applied for it & was selected on basis of my CLAT Rank. The counselling and the orientation was conducted in the KIIT University's Auditorium and convention centre, which is the largest in the state of Odisha and had the honour of having several noble laureates, the President, Governors of different states, Prime Minister, Judges of High Courts and Supreme Courts, and several other dignitaries. Then the introduction speech was given by Dr. N.L. Mitra, Ex-Vice Chancellor of NLSIU and founding Vice Chancellor of NLU Jodhpur and is the current the Chancellor of KIIT University which mesmerized me & left me spellbound. I had come to KIIT University on many occasions before but on 16th July,2012 I entered KIIT University as a Student of The KIIT Law School. The KIIT University has more than 16 campuses & is spread over 400 acres of land. KIIT Law School is one among them. I quickly started looking for the Canteen(the only nice place), the classroom(its a nice air conditioned room with wifi & projectors),library(i see it as the free bookstore except the Fines) and the boys hostel(my 2nd home for the rest of 5 years). I was overwhelmed to as the Law School was way more nice than my expectations.:(clap): Now keeping me aside & discussing completely about KIIT Law School : Its a Huge Glass Building, which at first glance would look like a 5-Star Hotel. The law school is a seven floor building, out of which 3 floors are dedicated to the library and reading room only. The library has subscription to electronic databases like Manupatra, LexisNexis and Westlaw and several other web journals to make the research and studies easier. The classrooms are well furnished & also have Projectors. We have a full sized moot court room, a large seminar hall our own auditorium is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Now talking about the teachers KIIT Law School has several experienced and trained faculty in the field of law and other fields. Most of the faculty members are either graduates from National Law Schools or were teachers there and many of them have PhD and have published several reports and articles. The teachers here are too friendly, supporting & caring. Achivements of KIIT Law School : KLS has won the best memorial award in Common Wealth international Moot Competition 2009. The school also won the award for the fourth best memorial in the North India rounds of Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2011.It also was judged the runners up at the R.K.Jain Memorial Moot Court Competition in the year 2011. KLS Moot Court Society also organises intra-KLS Moot Court Competition every year. During December 2010, KLS organized many events of international repute including first ever International Law Week and International Victimology Conference. In a short span of just 3 months we have attended seminars on "Social Justice, Judicial Activism and Role of the Supreme Court of India" by Hon'bleShri Justice DipakMisra, Judge, Supreme Court of India ,"Social Justice: Issues & Challenges" byHon'bleMrs. Justice GyanSudhaMisra, Judge, Supreme Court of India, & "Right to Education under Constitution of India" by Hon'bleShri. Justice A.K Patnaik, Judge, Supreme Court of India. We also had the Intra KLS MOOT Court Competition in the month of August,2012 which was an unique experience. Some distinct features of KIIT Law School : · The School runs under the guidance of Prof. N. L. Mitra, Former Director, National Law School of India University, Bangalore who is the Chairman of the National Advisory Committee of the KIIT School of Law. · It is one of the first law schools in India to offer three conjoined honors degree courses (B.A.LL.B., B.B.A.LL.B, and B.Sc. LL.B). · It is also the first law school of the country which has implemented the curricula recommended by the Bar Council of India of 2009. · Prof. J. Martin Hunter, a Barrister at the Essex Court Chambers, London & Emeritus Professor, Nottingham Trent University, U.K. is a guiding force behind the school. So, If you are someone who is a bit hardworking than KIIT Law School can guarantee you a decent future.
