9 out of 10 Engineering Graduates in India are not employable – Lack of Quality Education
The situation of the Professional Colleges which are offering the technical courses in India is extremely bad. Consider Engineering, there are 1.5 million engineering seats in the country and almost 1/3rd of the seats are remained vacant. So we can expect a million of engineering graduates from the Professional colleges every year around the country. Among these only 10% of them are employable and the remaining 90% of the graduates are not employable. Most of them don't know how to communicate in English as many of the engineering colleges are not taking it seriously and every student will communicate with their lecturers in their local language and that is one of the major drawback. The major deal of the engineering colleges in the country is to earn money and they are not even providng basic needs in the colleges. Because of these kind of reasons the number of aspirants who appears the Engineering Entrance Exams has fallen down in the past 3 years.
Few years ago every student in India has an aspiration that they have to pursue their Graduation in Technical Education, Their Option was either B.Tech or B.E. That was the major reason for the managements to establish 100's of Tech Schools and there was enough competition for an aspirant to get an seat in those Engineering colleges. At that point of time based on demand 1,00,000 more seats were added up in the professional collegesevery year. At that time demand was more and that is the reason the supply also increased eventually. But now the supply is more than that of the Demand and that is the reason some Lakhs of seats are vacant in the Engineering colleges all around the country. Many of the colleges are sending requests to AICTE to reduce the seats in the branches of Engineering or streams in management courses
The Technical schools in India Which are regulated by the All Indian Councl for Technical Education and some of the Private universities regulated by the University Grants commission shuld focus on the Qualty Education that the Colleges are providing to the students. Even the employer arecomplaining that the Output of the engineers is very poor because the Teaching faculty is weak.
